Iron and Bronze
A pioneering achievement in modern horology, the Iron & Bronze Timepiece features a 46 mm five-part case, crafted from iron with a rusted, PVD-coated finish, complemented by a bronze bezel and back. Weighing 6.8 oz, this watch embodies both strength and presence.
At its heart lies a historical hand-winding movement, Fontainemelon Caliber FHF 96, with 17 jewels, 18,000 A/h, and a 48-hour power reserve, paired with a natural rubber strap for comfort and durability.
The iron case pays homage to centuries-old Japanese craftsmanship, where rusting was used both as protection and as an art form. A meticulous process using vinegar, salt, and hydrogen peroxide develops a natural, stone-like rust surface. This layer is carefully brushed, then boiled in a green tea tannin bath, creating a dark brown-black finish treasured by iron art collectors.
For the Iron & Bronze timepiece, the rusted iron is treated with hydrochloric acid to remove loose particles and then finished with a dark PVD coating, preserving the natural surface structure while preventing further oxidation. The resulting hue mirrors the beauty of a traditionally sealed rust surface, offering a striking and unique patina.
Handcrafted in Switzerland.
